"Dark money" is funding by organizations that chose not reveal the names or source of their monies or donors, the term implies these funds will be used to exert political pressure on elections, to leverage current legislation, and influence public opinion. This lack of transparency of “dark money” donors is concerning because the potential for corruption exists for the political process. Dark money" donors funded the insurrection of January 6th, 2021, and the attack on the U.S. Capitol, investigations and reports alluded that dark money donors also funded the rallies and groups who would eventually attack the capitol. The names of some of these organizations are well known, they have been investigated and interviewed by the Select Jan. 6th committee, and their testimony is a matter of record, who was involved and who planned the events of Jan 6th, 2021, is still a mystery though. These dark money groups are already set on supporting another event similar to Jan 6th, 2021 for the 2024 elections, will their political efforts also threaten our democratic institutions now? A complex web of organizations and funding sources, where undisclosed financial contributions influence political actions and outcomes can lead to potentially unlawful activities. Never forget!
